WORKING DOGS TRIALS & SALE REPORT
The 2010 Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic Working Dog Show and Sale were held February 16th in Kearney, NE. Seven working dogs participated in this year’s trials and sale. Judge was Jeff Mundorff, Red Oak, IA. Auctioneer was Tracy Harl of Hastings, NE.
Taking the honors of Supreme Working Dog and high-selling dog was Lot 9, BG Bandit, sired by BG Tex, consigned by Polite Paws, Owen Seamann of Platte Center, NE, and sold to Stanley Keller of St. Francis, KS, for $2,500.
2nd Place Dog was Lot 1, Kate, consigned by TC Border Collies, Tim Gifford of Harrisburg, NE and sold to Roger Faulkender of St. Francis, KS, for $1,500.
3rd Place Dog was Lot 5, BJ Ralph, consigned by BJ Border Collies, Bob Johnson, of Tingley, IA, and sold to Garry Nielsen of Niobrara, NE, for $2,300.
4th Place Dog was Lot 6, Midge, consigned by Ketteler Kennels, Murray Ketteler, of Blunt, SD, and sold to DK Kennels of Rising City, NE, for $450.
5th Place Dog was Lot 8, Daisy, consigned by Shalee Paxton of Thedford, NE, and sold to Wayne Wilde of Shevlin, MN, for $2,000.
6th Place Dog was Lot 7, Spot, consigned by Ketteler Kennels, Murray Ketteler, of Blunt, SD, and sold to David Spencer of Gibbon, NE, for $800.

High Selling Pregnancy was Lot 2, by the WCC Primrose J136 donor female, mated to Garret Nationwide 8001, consigned by Dubas Cattle Co. of Fullerton, NE and sold to Jared Jaixen of Loup City, NE for $7,800.This was the high selling lot of the evening.

This pen was a Registered Angus Pen of Heifers that sold to Mike Connell of Stapleton, NE for $7,750. The other High Selling Pen of 5 Heifers, that also sold for $7,750, was Lot 14, consigned by Healys Simmental of Castana, IA. The Reserve Champion High Maine Heifer was Lot 39, JDJ Kati 816U, consigned by SJ Show Cattle of Dannebrog, NE. This heifer is a 03/02/2008, daughter of HAA Stockman 321N and sold to Scott Bislend of Grand Island, NE for $2,000.
The Reserve Champion MaineTainer Heifer was Lot 49x, BAK Miss RB 935W, Bakenhus Cattle Co of Columbus, NE. This heifer is a 03/10/2009, son of The Ringer and sold to AGP Cattle of Columbus, NE for $1,600.
The 2010 sale featured 26 bulls average $1,731. 9 heifers sold for an average of $1,586 in 2010. Overall, in 2010, there were 35 cattle that grossed $59,275 and averaged $1,694.

The 2010 Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic Chimaine/Chiangus Show and Sale was held February 20th in Kearney, NE. 16 bulls and 8 females participated in this year’s sale. Judge was Tyler Norvell of Oklahoma City, OK. The auctioneer was Tracy Harl of Hastings, NE.
Taking home Overall Champion Chianina Bull was Champion Chimaine Bull, Lot 15, Black Magic, consigned by Christo Cattle of Albion, NE. This bull is a 03/20/2009, son of Plainview Lutton E102 and sold to Wagonhammer Ranch of Albion, NE for $5,500. This bull went on to be the 2010 Supreme Champion Bull at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic.
Overall Reserve Champion Chianina Bull was Reserve Champion Chimaine Bull, Lot 18, Beat Down, consigned by Stoltz Exotics of Elgin, NE. This bull is a 04/12/2009, son of Friction and he sold to Broken Bow Ranch of Yampa, CO for $3,500.
Champion Chiangus Bull was Lot 3, WCC Freightliner 382U, consigned by Wilson Cattle Co of Cloverdale, IN. This is a 09/05/2008, son of WRL Tracken Norman that sold to Aaron Ishmael of Gallatin, MO for $5,000.

Overall Champion Chianina Heifer was Lot 23, HXC Black Jestress 40U, consigned by Holt Bros of Aberdeen, SD. This heifer is a 03/18/2008, daughter of HeatWave and she sold to Bill Moe of Bruce, SD for $5,500, making her the High Selling Chimaine/ChiangusHeifer.
